The Congregation of the Daughters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus started in India on Feb 8, 1980 at Pullarikunnu near Kudamaloor, in Kerala, Kottayam District. As it is the first house, there was a need to impart religious formation for the candidates those who joined to the DSHJ Congregation.

It remained as formation house including novitiate till 2004. Also the community was open to the different apostolic activities, such as youth formation, family visiting, parish activities and women’s welfare activities. Family visiting, Education, animation of the youth, parish activities Vocational guidance, City Mission- It is an Inter-congregational activity participated by 22 religious communities, to visit the families of the village’s and in the peripheral places of the city of Kottayam, to care the poor and needy. For this mission we are getting the collaboration of the laity, who are sharing the charism and spirituality of our Institute.

We are actively participating in the apostolic activities such as: Catechism,Youth animation, conducting Seminars,Counseling, Family visiting and ward prayers .Sisters are engaging in the education ministry in different schools

KALLUVAYAL

On 8th February 1995 the Daughters of Sacred Heart of Jesus started our presence in Kalluvayal, a remote village and hillocks in Thalassery Diocese of Kannur District.

A small Nursery school run by the care of sisters .Here studying the children of village of different castes.We care to give qualified basic education to them.

We are warmly welcomed by all people. It is a flaring time of that village. The sisters extend the infinite love of Jesus through home visits, parish activities and Nursery school.

KILIROOR

I have become all things to all people that I might by all means save some”. (1 Cor 9:22). The second house of DSHJ in India is established on 6th June 1986 in Kiliroor near Kottayam. The main apostolic activities of our community are Nursery, Pastoral activities and Youth animation. We take part in all the activities of parish and in the youth animation. Through these activities we could experience the love, mercy, concern of our beloved Jesus and witness the beauty of the Charism and of the Religious life.

NURSARY SCHOOL

The sisters with the help of lay teachers are occupying to give integral basic education to children and taking care of their parents formation.

OTHER ACTIVITIES

Animation of 'Missionaries of Sacred Heart' (Thiruhrudhaya Preshidhar), Awareness programme for the drug adictors family, Family visiting and prayer,Catechism, Youth animation, Madhruvedhi, Mission League etc...

UDAYAMPEROOR

The community of Paripalana Bhavan started in the year of 2005 march 25th in Ernakulum Dist, Udayamperoor. It is opened for the mentally challenged Destitute Women. This center is registered under the charitable home control board. Here the DSHJ are fully committed to give guidance, assistance and accommodation for the inmates.Recently we started a counseling center also. We opened a possibility for the Adoration on Fridays for outsiders to enhance in the devotion of the Sacred Heart. Through the intercession of our patrons St, Teresa Verzeri and Mon. Joseph Benaglio, we are really experiencing the loving Providence of God through the good willed people of our locality.

REHABILITATION CENTER

Here the DSHJ are fully committed to give guidance, assistance and accommodation for the inmates. At present there are 25 women. During these years almost 30 persons were rehabilitated, when their disease is cured they joined their families. There are 6 sisters who assist the patients in all their needs. Sisters help them through clinical therapy, medication, occupation therapy, personal guidance and prayer. Every year we celebrate the annual day and one day outing programme. And also we promote their talents and human dignity through the classes, craft work, stitching, painting, vegetable garden, etc… more details

PARAPPURAM

On 15th April 2004 we started our Novitiate house at Parappuram. At presents we have three Novices. We are giving intensive formation for the integral growth of the Novices. We shares the merciful love of christ through our various activities like: Teaching catechism, pastoral work in parish, counciling for teenagers, Intensive family visiting, Animation in various Groups like C.L.C, Thirubalasaghyam, Family apostolate, Laity formation by responding to the needs of the local church. Every year we conduct Christmas celebration with our neighbours who belong to Hindu religioun. We are trying to spread the Gospel values and share the charism of our congregation through our presence and participation in various activities.

FORMATION

In our community there are four sisters, three Novices, and three pre novices. It is a formative Community. In the community we are giving an integral formation for the growth of the candidates. Three novices are preparing for their first commitment.

The sisters are involving in pastoral works and various activities in our parish. We are sharing the merciful love of God through our family visiting and counseling. And also taking care of the animation of Teenagers. The part of this we could utilize more chances to give good witness for the Teenagers for the Teenagers about the usage of mass media.

VERZERI BHAVAN

It is our Provincial house. A house for meeting, animation and formation of DSHJ sisters. Frequently the sisters gathering, annual retreat, Laity meeting, Chapters, Vocation camps etc.. are conducting here.

JESUS YOUTH

The members of this community are involving to animation of Jesus Youth, Pastoral activities like Catechism, ICYM, Thirubalasakhyam, Ward prayeretc..

WITH LAITY

Here the laity group is very active. In the 'Year of Mercy' on February 8th we started a Charitable activity named 'Karunya Bhavan' with the help of laity for to distribute the food for the bystanders of Cancer Patients in Father Muller Hospital in Kankanady.

BHADRAVATHI

Motivated by prayer, supported by community, commitment to the poor and legacy of our founders and collaboration with people we, Dshj Bhadravathi community witness the merciful love heart of Jesus by a gentle approach to promote human dignity specially marginalized people’. On 31 July 1989 accepting the invitation of the Missionary Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament, the DSHJ in the Spirit of “towards the most needy” went to Bhadravathy, Shimoga District in Karnataka State.

NURSARY SCHOOL & WOMEN EMPOWERMENT

We manifest God’s Presence promoting dignity of the persons through our various activities ie, for the women, Social work, Education, initiating community development programmes ,empowering programmes, organization of women through SHG , pre-school vocational training computer classes and stitching classes.In the year of 1992 started Jeevanjyothi charitable society. Jeevan Jyothi charitable society has been conducting many programmes with the help of head office, to develop women as powerful human resource in order to promote self sufficiency among the poor and marginalized women in the remote rural area of Bhadavathi Taluk

KAMMAM

DSHJ Convent at Khammam founded on March 3rd 2010. This is the first mission center in Telngana for our congregation. This Convent envisages a center for the integral development of socio- pastoral and educational activities of the province. The management of the Sacred Heart English medium school is under the leadership of our sisters.

This institution and Paresh activity help us to spread the sentiment of Sacred heart of Jesus which is primary concern of our call. The management of school gives us opportunity to to educate the next generation and animation of youth . For the full filling this Mission five of our sisters dedicated there life in Kahmmam

CHARAMA

The mission of DSHJ has started in Charama, Chathisgarh on June 10th 2014.We are rendering our service to the diocese programs. We are engaging in the school, parish activities such as liturgy animation conducting the family prayer, etc...

SCHOOL

As our Founders said, “Education is the better way for the integral growth of the person”. It will change the face of the families and villages. Thus we are giving our contribution to build up the future generation.



We are visiting the families without any boundaries of religion, Caste, culture, rich and poor.






KALYAN

Let the little children come to me says Jesus. According to His saying and out of His love towards children, especially children who are abandoned, he gifted Navajyothi Bhavan as a shelter and a place to blossom in love. It was established on 26.06.2004. It is one of the main missions of Kalyan community. It was started with three children and at present we have 23 girls out of which 7 are of single parent and rests of them are fully orphans. They are aged from 6-18 yrs. Children are studying from standard 2nd – 12th. Here we take care of their physical, mental, Academicals, & psychological development.

They go to School and take part in all activities that are conducted in School level. They are good in studies and three of them have completed their 10th successfully securing good percentages. They gained several prizes. During their vacation, we permit volunteers from various professions, to teach them Yoga, craft & Drawing, English Grammar, Glass painting, Embroidery …….etc. It gives the opportunity to bring out the hidden talents from our children.Children are supported with counseling in order to know themselves and come out with flying colors.

KANKANADI

Where there is youth there is hope, joy, life and energy. Yes! Today’s youth is tomorrow’s nation. But in the midst of this social economic and cultural change, we the Daughters of sacred Heart of Jesus read the reality that youth miss their destiny. Their parents are in search to quench the fire which can assassinate the young generation.We inspire and promote the spiritual growth and moral values in the families.

We are collabratibg with our parish activiies such as Youth animation,Family visiting, Ward prayer, Jesus Youth, Mathruvedi and Catechisam ect..

HOSTEL FOR STUDENTS

Here comes the meaningful presence of DSHJ in Mangalore in 1992 with their student’s hostel, within these 21 years around 4000 students stayed here and finished their studies with good marks and spiritual growth. We encourage and motivate the students and to pass with high mark for a good future and enliven moral values that they may experience an atmosphere of peace, tranquility and holiness to face the future with courage and confidence.

By the God’s abundant blessings and the active co-operation of several well wishers we could the first house of the Daughters of the Sacred Heart of Jesuso n Feb. 8th 1980 at Kudamaloor, village hallowed by the birth of St. Alphonsa.

At present scenario we, the Daughters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus have 14 communities, spread over five states in India, two in Italy and one in Germany. The Order is progressing according to the words of St. Paul “be everything to everyone” (1Co.9: 22) as envisioned by the Founders and in association with the local Church. Since 1980, the Congregation has been imparting training and subsequent enrolment to those who are genuinely attracted towards the sacred Heart of Jesus.

The first branch house was opened on 6th June 1980 at Kiliroor.To spread the wings of DSHJ in 1989, accepting the invitation of the Missionary Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament, DSHJ reached to Shimoga (Bhdravathi Diocese). The Daughters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus started their service in Mangalore in the parish of Kankanady belong to the Belthangady Diocese, in 1992.On 17th December 1994 the daughters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus went to North Koppa ( Karnataka). In August 1995 the the daughters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus went to Kalluvayal in Talassery Diocese in the Distrct of Kannur. In May 1999 the Daughters of the Sacred heart of Jesus ventured at reaching out their hands to orphans and destitutes in the Diocese of Kalyan (Maharashtra). On 2007 it became as the Provincial House of Benaglio Province. On March 3rd 2010 as the part of mission expansion we started a new community in Kammam Diocese (Latin) belong to Andra Predesh.
